Ketamine has a unique pharmacologic mechanism of action that has been shown to be effective for various types of pain, sedation and other indications such as alcohol withdrawal, which are commonly seen in an intensive care setting.  This podcast with review basic pharmacology and dosing of ketamine and provide guidance on appropriate patient selection for ketamine use in the ICU.
