Intensive care unit (ICU) delirium is a common and severe manifestation of critical illness. It can occur in up to 80% of mechanically ventilated ICU patients and leads to longer lengths of stay and increases the risk of mortality. The etiology of ICU delirium is not well-elucidated, making pharmacological treatments difficult to target. This podcast will discuss the risk factors, definitions, and treatment of ICU delirium.
