At the peak of the pandemic crisis, safety from exposure to COVID-19 for healthcare workers became the driving force in reconfiguring and renaming the kits and trays utilized across departments, nursing stations, and in the OR. The goal was to mitigate exposure risks caused by the potential contamination of carts, kits, and trays utilized in areas caring for COVID-19 patients. In this Case Management Study from the 2020 Midyear Clinical Meeting learn how the Pharmacy Department leveraged RFID technology to cope with new challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis by providing a quick and efficient mechanism to reconfigure and rename kits and trays in order to minimize exposure.
